Challah
1 long/large loaf or two good size loaves
- 2 tsp yeast
- 1 1/3 cups lukewarm water
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/6 cup canola oil
- 2 tsp salt
- approx: 4 cups flour (Enough flour)
- Mix yeast, lukewarm water and sugar and wait 10 minutes then add the egg, canola oil and salt.
- Add enough flour (approx: 4 cups).
- Knead for 10 minutes. let rise 1.5 hours.
- Braid and brush with egg and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- A good challah braid reference or, a fancy round braid (from point 19).
- Brush with more egg and poppy seeds if desired. Bake at 375 farenhieight for approx 45 minutes (size depending)
