Challah

1 long/large loaf or two good size loaves


  1. Mix yeast, lukewarm water and sugar and wait 10 minutes then add the egg, canola oil and salt.
  2. Add enough flour (approx: 4 cups).
  3. Knead for 10 minutes. let rise 1.5 hours.
  4. Braid and brush with egg and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. A good challah braid reference or, a fancy round braid (from point 19).
  6. Brush with more egg and poppy seeds if desired. Bake at 375 farenhieight for approx 45 minutes (size depending)
