Makes two dozen

Preheat oven to 170. Cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg and syrup. Beat again then add the sifted dry ingredients. Roll into balls and place on baking paper on baking tray. Do not flatten. Bake for approximately 30 minutes until well baked and deep golden. Cool on a rack before storing in an air tight container. Makes two dozen.
